DC Studios has pulled the role of Superman from Henry Cavill, less than two months after announcing his return to the role.

Cavill said, "I met with James Gunn and Peter Safran and learned the sad news, I will not be returning to play Superman ." He added, "After the production company told me that I could announce my return in October, before signing the contract with me, this news is not easy for me, but that's how life is."

The British actor added that he had no hostile feelings, and said on his Instagram account: "Change actors are something that happens a lot, and I respect that."

He concluded by saying, “I wish the team good luck.”
